Annual AWC Tulsa Events

Community-Wide Events

Each year, AWC Tulsa hosts the Newsmakers luncheon to present outstanding, selected women communicators with the Newsmakers Award and the Saidie Lifetime Achievement Award.

We also award the Ruth E. Richards Rising Star Communicator Award to two female college students pursuing degrees in communication. The annual scholarship winners are recognized at the Newsmakers Awards Luncheon each year.

Special Workshop

AWC Tulsa hosts a half-day professional development conference for area communicators each year. Topics are as varied as crisis communications, hot tips for social media management and maintaining personal contact in a technical world.

AWC Tulsa Open House

AWC Tulsa kicks off its program year in late summer or early fall with an annual open house. We welcome members and non-members alike to learn more about the professional development and networking opportunities scheduled in the year ahead. The open house is one of the best ways to network with other communicators and learn more about AWC Tulsa!

Member-Only Events

W3 – Women, Wisdom and Wine

AWC Tulsa holds networking socials, called W3, throughout the year that is a members-only perk. These events are member favorites — a time to kick back after the work day, visit with long-time AWC Tulsa friends and meet new ones, talk business or what’s in the news, make great connections, and share creative ideas! It’s where we connect with relaxing time and wine (and light food) to talk shop and share ideas. It’s fun, it’s casual, it’s a friendly way to end the day in the comfort of a member's home. We look forward to seeing you then! We believe this opportunity for personal connections and deepening friendship is one of the best perks we offer.

Holiday Party

Each year, members gather for the annual holiday party at a member’s home. The holiday party includes the AWC Tulsa yearly fundraiser and collection of books for Anderson Elementary School.

Community Outreach

In addition to the friendship, networking and professional development provided to its members, AWC Tulsa also supports several community programs and events.

Each holiday season, AWC Tulsa seeks opportunities for charitable giving. For several years, AWC Tulsa sponsored a family or individuals in need. Most recently, we've worked with Anderson Elementary to help build their library as well as provide books to their students. Through both an individual member book drive and a chapter donation, we've been able to give each child at the school a book of their own to take home for the holidays.
